CARB is considering durability and warranty requirements that no electric vehicle can currently meet. The proposal could require increasing battery size 25-45% to meet these requirements (i.e., without providing the consumer additional range). Auto Innovators sent a letter to CARB on October 1, proposing an alternative. The letter requests that CARB harmonize their battery durability requirements with those developed by the United Nations Electric Vehicles and the Environment’s workgroup, which is comprised of federal regulators in the United States, Europe and Japan, along with Auto Innovators, our members, and other auto industry representatives from around the world.
