The Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change, headed by Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, requested public input as it works to craft policy recommendations for Governor Evers ahead of the 2021-2023 biennial budget. Auto Innovators submitted the attached letter to the task force. In our comments, Auto Innovators highlighted the opportunity for the state and its local governments, vehicle manufacturers, utilities, and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) companies to come together to appreciate the benefits that electric vehicles offer and to outline the necessary market support tools, like purchase incentives, infrastructure, and consumer education, that are critical to robust and growing electric vehicle sales. Created last year by an executive order, the Climate Change Task Force includes legislators, cabinet secretaries and appointees from the agriculture, utility, and tourism industries as well as higher education and indigenous nations. Members are charged with advising Governor Evers on strategies for slowing global climate change and adapting to the local impacts.
