Industry outlines key areas critical to modernizing and advancing mobility in Senate testimony
Washington, DC – April 27, 2021 – Four key areas are critical to modernizing and transforming mobility, safety and technology and unlocking American innovation and leadership, Alliance for Automotive Innovation (Auto Innovators) President and CEO, John Bozzella, told a U.S. Senate subcommittee today. Bozzella’s remarks to the Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Maritime, Freight, and Ports identified supply chain development, electrification, vehicle automation and enhanced safety technology deployment as key matters and focused on the necessity of cohesive efforts from private sectors and the government.
“Today, we stand on the cusp of a transformative moment for the automotive industry in the United States. Through substantial, long-term investments in electrification,[1] as well as advanced safety technologies, including automation, the industry is poised to redefine motor vehicle transportation for decades,” said Bozzella. “Government policies, investments and programs must be modernized and transformed to reflect changes in the global marketplace.”
“Auto Innovators believes that realizing this future requires a sustained approach with a broad range of complementary supply- and demand-side legislative and regulatory policies.”
Auto Innovators has continued to outline the key measures needed for success in a series of documents including the just-unveiled Driver Monitoring Principles, the EV Agenda, the Innovation Agenda, and the AV Roadmap.
