Statement attributable to Auto Innovators President and CEO John Bozzella ahead of White House remarks on the semiconductor chip crisis:
“Leaders from the semiconductor and automotive industries are investing in new production here in the U.S. and working with Congress and the Administration to reduce the global chip shortage as quickly and efficiently as possible. Congressional passage of the CHIPS Act will help bolster U.S. production and improve long-term supply chain reliability. I was encouraged by a conversation I had with Commerce Deputy Secretary Don Graves about the commitment by the Administration to get full funding for the CHIPS Act across the finish line.
“The automotive industry is working toward a cleaner, safer, and smarter transportation future. A sustained commitment to investing in and building additional domestic semiconductor capacity that meets the current and future needs of the auto industry in the United States is absolutely essential. We look forward to continuing to work with the Biden Administration and all stakeholders to ensure that the auto industry in the United States continues to lead the world in innovation.”
